In 1991 MTV aired an animated series about a foot fetish model moonlighting as a revolutionary assassin trapped in an endless cycle of rebirth.

Æon Flux made ripples with its slick, sinewy visual style; its rich and enigmatic narrative; and its dream-like, vividly realised biopunk setting.

Fourteen years later director Karyn Kusama pulled the trigger on the series’ reincarnation as a high-budget, psychedelic action film.

Charlize Theron effortlessly assumes the role of Æon, traversing this strange dystopia with a grace few but gymnasts and dolls display.

Expect the gleam of taut black leather, extreme body modification, hyper-stylised espionage, and a character who has hands for feet.
