Transmissions presents: THE MATRIX RESURRECTIONS (2021)

On the final night of our Matrix retrospective, the next chapter is a journey back to the start.
Fundamentally a deeply felt love story while still remaining true to the triumphant action and adventure of the first three films, Lana Wachowski‘s long-awaited continuation of the epic cyberpunk series strikes a keen balance between what some would call fan service, and a determination to undo its own myths through smart a self-reflexive writing.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021) brings back familiar faces and gives them all plenty to do, and boasts a scene-stealing performance from newcomer Jessica Henwicke, alongside almost the entire cast of Sense8, and certified evil fags Jonathan Groff and Neil Patrick Harris.
But right before all that we’ll be screening one of the weirdest shorts from The Animatrix; Matriculated from animator Peter Chung (Æon Flux).
Join us downstairs at Dalston Superstore for one last head trip into a world where conformity spells death, autonomy and community are everything, and love might just be enough to save us all.
