Transmissions presents: FUNNY GAMES (2007) + INTRO BY JUNE ARCHBOLD

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and for those who would rather it didn’t, we have the perfect antidote to festive cheer.
The legendary Michael Haneke is known for his ice cold dissections of societal issues, crafting modern hellscapes characterised by sudden acts of violence, moral failings and carefully controlled atmosphere.
But he’s perhaps never been better than Funny Games (2007), shocking audiences once more with an identical remake of his own 1997 Austrian-language film.
Naomi Watts, Tim Roth, Michael Pitt, and Brady Corbet give immense performances in a brutal home invasion film that defies easy categorisation.
Part sadistic psychological Horror, part confrontation on violence and media itself, Haneke’s polarising piece of cinematic terrorism is to this day as uncomfortable as it is unforgettable.
We’ll be joined before the film by guest programmer for the night June Archbold (Fringe!), who will be introducing her subversive, and brilliant choice.
Find us downstairs at Dalston Superstore for a bleak offering that invites hot takes and heated argument.
“You must admit, you brought this on yourself”

Tickets available via OutSavvy

Subtitles will be displayed throughout the film.

Seating is a mixture of benches, backed chairs, bar stools, and floor space, and is first come, first served.
